- The charger is awesome. Love the computer usb feature and being able to read internal resistance of the batteries is a plus. My first power supply had a cracked thermistor and was shutting off, but they sent me a brand new one 2 days later with a paid shipping label and box to send it back. Best customer service that I have ever received from anyone else. No questions ask they took full responsibility and took care of the problem. I already knew if I had any trouble they would handle it after reading others reviews. The parallel board is great allows me to have one board for all my batteries if I'm charging one or four, 2 cell or 4 cell. Don't hesitate to buy from these guys you won't regret it. Thanks progressive rc.
This charger combo has been a HUGE step up from what I was using, and I can't believe I ever charged lipos without the CellPro 6. The standard pre-sets are very good, but with the additional USB cable (and free software) the options and customizability are mind blowing. A bit over my head right now, but gives me plenty of charger to grow into later. I'm only charging 3S packs right now, and even charging several in parrellel the 600W power source has been more than enough. But if I ever need more, it's nice that the CellPro 6 can go up to 1000W, so all I'd have to upgrade is my power source.
This combo was a little more than I wanted to spend... but when you think about what we spend on our planes, batteries, radios and so on... a good charger to keep your gear running it's best is a proper investment. And compared to all that stuff, this really wasn't that much, either...
It's not "just a charger", it really is a complete battery station to keep your batteries healthy and happy... which means more time spent in the air and less time spent messing with a crap charger, or replacing worn out lipos.
Also, ProgressiveRC's service was top notch. Good communication, fast order processing and shipping... a pleasure.
Order processing was flawless, wish I could say the same for the power supply. When I first plugged it in, there was no response. Absolutely no function of the power supply, even the light for the switch would not come on. I tried to phone, e-mail, and chat with customer service about the issue, but had no response so I opened the case to the power supply. One of the leads from the AC socket to the mother board had disconnected while shipping. An easy fix, but the blade connection was very loose. Finally got a silly email from the tech department asking if I could check the output voltage of the power supply... Hello? I told you it doesn't even turn on, guys! One reason I purchased from here was the reportedly awesome customer service. I might have to disagree with that for the time being.
Once I fixed it myself, everything has worked flawlessly. I like the PL 6 charger.
ProgressiveRC Comment: Apologies for the initial trouble with the power supply, we have not seen this issue of a loose AC contact spade before, thank you for bringing it to our attention.
- excellent product
Having been a nitro person for years I decided to try Electric Flight. Knowing nothing about Electric I asked fellow club members for advise. One of them pointed me to Progressive for charging needs. As I am running 4400 mHa 6s 30C batteries I needed a strong charger. When contacting Progressive I explained my experience level & needs to them. They suggested the Tailor Made Combo.
After reviewing it I went with the Power Lab 6 and the 1000 Watt PS. I also added a Parallel board, USB connection & EC-5 connectors. It arrive very quickly and I was impressed as it was all wired and ready to go. All plug & Play. My only issue was that my balance leads were short and hooking to the balance board was difficult. This was no problem as again Progressive had what i needed. I ordered balance extensions 2 to a pack as well as charge extensions and I now have what I need to charge 6 batteries at a time. As this is a large purchase It is nice to purchase from an AMERICAN company where I can turn to for all future needs and warranty if needed, and not have to worry about it. You get what you pay for, but doing it right the first time saves money down the road. Thank you Progressive
- I am new to electric flight and was told about this site after talking with club members. I am using 6S 4400 mHa batteries and wanted a large charger. I called Progressive and they suggested the Taylor Made Combo after defining my needs. Went with the PL 6 & 1000 watt PS. Could not have asked for a better choice. I also purchased a Parallel board & USB Interface and EC-5 connectors. They arrived already wired ready to go very nice touch. Very happy with purchase. Only problem I encountered was hooking up the batteries to the Parallel Board my pack leads were very short. Being new to Electric this was no problem I just ordered Balance lead extensions and Charge lead extensions from the web site, Nice to see the balance leads come two to a pack. I am now completely set up to change my fleet to electric power any and meet any future need I might have. I highly recommend progressive. You get what you pay for. Nice to deal with an American company and have a warranty with the product.
- Upgrading the power supply to 1000w caused a little glitch in the packing slip and the combo arrived with wrong cables. However, corrected cables arrived a few days later. PL6 charger with 1000w power supply is kick butt, fast and solid. I highly recommend the optional USB cable for use with the free software. Configuring custom presets and customizing charge options with the software is a breeze. I will buy from progressive again.
Still do not have the correct components from the Combo.
