iCharger X12

X12
The first iCharger with 12S capability, the X12 is truly ready for anything!
$179.99

The first iCharger to offer 12S capability, the X12 is a step forward for operations that require high-voltage input.

With a balance current of a full 2A, charges will finish faster than ever. The full color IPS display provides a wealth of information at a glance, using the operating system perfected on the larger Duo iChargers.

The X12 can charge at up to 30A, and it can also discharge at up to 30A! While similar size chargers limit their discharge capabilities, the X12 offers iCharger's trademark support for regenerative discharge, allowing the charger to provide a full 1100W of discharge capability when powered from a suitable battery bank.

Despite its small size and low price, this is still a full featured iCharger, with multi-chemistry support and all the depth of settings you've come to expect, including an improved software interface for recording battery data and upgrading firmware.

Survived 2-1/2 years of daily use for 6-14 hours of 700W abuse. Will buy another.

I run my iCharger X12 primarily in automatic power supply mode - I set the settings, enable automatic start, and I leave it on automation. When the power supply comes up, it boots the charger, and it starts dumping 36V (nom) and 17-22 amps (input current limited) into a huge battery bank. It's run like this, monitored but mostly problem-free, for 2-1/2 years, as well as occasionally being pulled off the system to be used in its traditional role as a battery charge/balancer in other battery shenanigans I do.

It unfortunately met its end by, once again my mistake, a long (50ft) thick DC cable with weird inductance properties was used to supply it from another battery... and that seems to have scrambled and cooked it, releasing the magic smoke when I tried using it again later (as it squealed a crunchy "dii-doo-doo dee doo" followed by the alarm sound).

Early in its life, the fan also developed a crunchy bearing - and one of the first things I did was replace the fan with a high-CFM ball-bearing replacement of equal size/voltage inside. Hopefully the new ones have better fans.

Given that this one iCharger X12 has processed at least a few megawatt-hours of energy through its tiny chassis, it definitely earned a second buy, so I'm just coming back here to buy another.

Good, but be careful.....

This is a nice charger, but understand well that if you plug 6S x 2 balance leads in the wrong order that you not only cook the lead but also the cell #'s 6-12 balacing ability of the charger INSTANTLY.

Good charger, BUT…

Very disappointed. Nowhere on the Progressive RC X12 description do they tell you that the iCharger WILL NOT DO 12S or 10S lipos… unless you have a special balance board (that PRC actually sell separately). The charger is really good and worth the money for sure, but I need it to charge my new 10S batteries but found that I should have ordered the $12.99 special balance board. Most progressive retailers will warn you if you do need accessories to make it work for you, PRC are the exception. Unbelievably PRC have still not done anything about the omission that cost me money and frustration re the double shipping to Australia and a 2 week delay, by having to order the accessory board separately once I realised. I’m thankful that the Progressive staff member did acknowledge the problem, however nothing was done about it. NOT what I’d call progressive.

Sorry to disappoint. The X12 supports 12S and 10S lipos. However, if your battery has a 'split' balance lead, i.e. 2x5S connectors to make a 10S connector, you will need an adapter or balance board as you would on any other charger.
