iCharger DX8

DX8
Dual-channel version of the X8 charger offers incredible power density!
$249.99

We knew it was coming and it's finally here: the all-new iCharger DX8, the compact, dual channel version of the popular X8.

With a maximum potential output of 1600W, the DX8 is second only to the 4010Duo, at a fraction of the size and cost. Charge at up to 30A per channel (50A total) on LiPo batteries up to 8S. With a balance current of a full 2A, charges will finish faster than ever. The full color IPS display provides a wealth of information at a glance, using the operating system perfected on the larger Duo iChargers.

The DX8 can charge at up to 30A, and it can also discharge at up to 30A! While similar size chargers limit their discharge capabilities, the DX8 offers iCharger's trademark support for regenerative discharge, allowing the charger to provide a full 1600W of discharge capability when powered from a suitable battery bank.

Despite its small size and low price, this is still a full featured iCharger, with multi-chemistry support and all the depth of settings you've come to expect, including an improved software interface for recording battery data and upgrading firmware.

Charger is great! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the screens are so small. Hard for my old eyes to see it. My only other complaint was with the way Progressive packaged it. They just dropped it in a USPS mailing bag. The box was beat up REALLY bad and I felt sure that the charger would be damaged but it was okay.

A Nice Update to the Duo Chargers

I also have a 406 Duo. The DX8 is a nice aesthetic update, and quite a bit more compact & lightweight. The iCharger UI is it’s only downfall. Since they omitted the tab button, some functions are more difficult & less intuitive to access (like setting up custom memory profiles). You need to master short/medium/long press to take full advantage of the programming. The XT90 input is a bit stiff, but thankfully you can also use an EC5 like the old chargers had. Getting rid of the pigtail on the input was a nice touch as well. The balance ports are now keyed to take any 2S-8S XH connectors, so we don’t need to buy all new 8S leads, which was a welcome surprise. If you’re looking for a new charger, I’d definitely go with the DX8 over the older Duo models. If you already have a Duo, I don’t think there’s enough to justify an upgrade unless you want to try something new or need to shed size/weight. If we could just get Junsi hardware & software quality with an ISDT interface, these would be perfect.

Dx8 screen protector

I just received my charger within a few days of purchasing and thought the screen was scratched. I reached out to Progressive and they replied quickly with info that there’s a factory screen protector that you can’t see. So if you are a new icharger user like me you can pick at it from the corner To remove or leave it on.
