LiPo ESR Meter Mark II

AC-ESR2
Updated version of the industry standard ESR Meter - now check every cell simultaneously!
$149.99

For years, the ESR Meter has been the de facto standard for judging the quality of lithium battery packs. With the new Mark II model, it's better than ever!

From tiny single cells all the way up to a 6S 25,000mAh multirotor pack, this meter is ready to instantly provide objective data to let you measure and track the health of your packs. Internal resistance is a crucial aspect of a battery's performance, affecting the rate at which it can safely be charged and discharged. The ability to measure internal resistance enables you to compare batteries from different manufacturers with confidence rather than relying on often-suspect C ratings.

The ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) meter gives you just that ability - powered by the battery itself, the meter provides the internal resistance of an entire pack to a resolution of 0.3 milliohms or each individual cell to a resolution of 0.04 milliohms. With the added ability to enter the capacity of the pack being measured, you can now also find out the real C rating of the battery, based on the measurable resistance.

With the updated design letting you connect your battery's balance lead directly to the meter, you can check every cell simultaneously, making the ESR Meter a more useful tool than ever.

Definitely Worth it if You are a Builder

In theory, the bind and fly and ARFs are appropriately matched the recommended battery when they are sold. If you spend any time calculating custom power systems then this meter is as invaluable for batters as a good watt meter is for measuring the load on a motor. For example, I have a plane I built that pulls just under 34 amps at max load. The batteries are rated 50C which is a considerable margin of safety. Except this ESR Meter showed that the pack is actually 16.5 C and has a maximum discharge rate of 35 amps. That is still safe and will not damage the pack, but the advertised C rating would have meant that 105 amps would be safe which is just not the case.

Very useful and important tool.

Knowing battery resistance and monitoring it really tells you what is going on with the health and usefulness of a battery. I used to use my charger that gave me internal resistance but it was inconsistent, all over the place. This meter is so much more consistent and close to actual resistance by a long shot. I love it!
