PRC Helping Hands Soldering Stand

This custom designed soldering stand is perfect for those soldering jobs where you just don't have enough hands to keep everything place and hold your soldering iron too.

With two fully adjustable arms, and room for a third, you'll have no problem setting up your project exactly how you want, while the heavy multi-tracked base gives you a solid platform to work on without having to worry about it overbalancing.

They almost made it good.

I love their other soldering stand better even though it only has 1 hand because the whole unit is heavier and doesnt move around as much. This one is fine for certain applications but if your using a hand to hold a bullet connector at a 30ish degree angle when you go to apply pressure to the bullet from the wire one of two things happens. Either the arm start moving sideways no matter how hard I clamp it down or the entire base slides because the unit has no weight to it. If these two issues were addressed Id give it 4 stars. If they replaced all the plastic parts that get tightened with metal where I could really lock everything in place to where no amoutn of pressure would make it move or have to worry about breaking it then Id give it 5 Stars

New to me soldering stand

The soldering stand comes with 2 clamps. I ordered additional clamps which makes it much easier to butt splice small electronic wires together.

Nice but plastic parts failed

A nice idea, but the plastic nuts that secure the clamps to the base almost all failed on mine. This rendered it useless and I didn't want to spend $6 on each to replace them.

ProgressiveRC Comment: We have seen a handful of failures of this plastic nut from over-tightening over the years of selling this product and are currently looking at improvements to the design to eliminate this. Please contact us if you would like a replacement plastic nut.

Excellent product with one flaw

I bought the Helping Hands Soldering Stand and it’s a great design. There is only one problem and it’s the black plastic discs that tighten the shaft. These things are extremely fragile and will crack easily in fact my unit came with one of the discs already cracked. To solve the problem I mixed up some epoxy and milled glass and filled the channel on one side of the disc. Good enough for now. I have photographic equipment that has a very similar disc but with a threaded aluminum insert and of course the plastic is thicker and stronger. It makes no sense to have a well thought out product and then have one component that is so weak and brittle.

Good company service. Good basic design. Solid construction. Used once already for a gluing project.
